Post Birthday Bliss…
Thursday, August 21st, 2008Thank you so much to all of you who sent me such sweet birthday wishes! I even got music and poems. Wow!
Yesterday was my birthday.
I know. I’ve talked about it for weeks now. Thanks for your patience with my Leonine nature.
It just felt like this was an important one.
Lately I’ve been thinking a lot about stories, those little excuses and reasons that keep us from stepping fully into our abundance.
The last five years on this planet have been very interesting for many of us. We have gone through a cycle of awareness, opening our eyes to new understandings about the Universe.
Many of us have gone through a cycle of revolution, making sweeping changes and valiant strides towards bringing our new awareness into expression into our lives.
And, if you’re like me, you may have found that your personal revolution has been fulfilling but you can feel that there’s more available to you and you just can’t quite get there.
Quick. Make a list of what’s keeping you stuck.
These are your stories.
Now, for many years I used all kinds of techniques to get people “unstuck”. In my personal life, I think I have used EFT for 1000 hours at least.
Maybe you’ve done that too?
Somehow, looking back and finding my stories and blocks isn’t helping me anymore. I feel like Lot’s Wife…there are some areas in my life where I have made becoming a pillar of salt a new art form.
Trying to clear old stories hasn’t been working too well for me. The actual act of trying to clear the story seems to be making it worse. It’s kind of like I’ve fallen in love with the story of clearing the story.
Does this make sense?
This year I’m going to try something new. I choose to keep my awareness in the present, my heart in the moment and my feet moving forward. If this moment is indeed my most important moment, then I don’t have to look back to move forward any more.
A long time ago when I used to work for Dr. Doreen Virtue, we used to conduct a ritual with our students to help them release the past. We instructed them to find an object in nature, energetically place all our old “stories” into the object while sleeping with it under out pillow and the next day, at sunset, through the object into the ocean.
I decided that I would do this on my birthday. I found an ugly oyster shell as my object. I thought an oyster shell was appropriate as oysters can take an irritating grain of sand and turn it into a beautiful pearl. It seemed perfect.
On the smooth inside of my shell I wrote my prayer for my new year:
Let me be of greatest service to G-d and my Divine Siblings each and every day. Thank you G-d for being my total fulfillment.
On the ugly back of the shell I wrote out my stories that no longer serve me:
1. I have to do everything alone.
2. I’m too much and/or not enough.
3. No one can really love me.
4. I’m not ready yet.
On my birthday, I intended to go out into the Gulf of Mexico, where I am staying with my parents, and throw my shell into the deep waters of the sea. I wanted to do this process with the dolphins as I have a deep connection with these beautiful marine consorts.
So, yesterday I went out onto my Dad’s bay boat with my family. We had a glorious ride through all the little twists and turns of the coastal bay. The birds were just amazing and we saw lots of dolphins. It was the perfect day!
We stop and played on an island. I sat on the edge of the water letting the ocean gently wash away all my past stories. It was as if I was being washed clean. The sun burned away the dross, the ocean carried away what was left.
On the way back, I waited for just the right moment. To the left of the bow of the boat came a lone dolphin. I knew it was the right time. I tossed my shell into the water and to my surprise, at that very moment, a beautiful Osprey flew immediately overhead.
This was followed by another Osprey, and then I saw yet a different Osprey perched on one of the waterway marker posts, just sitting and watching me.
I thought the dolphins would be my guides but sometimes Spirit has better ideas. The Ospreys gently served as the guardians for my release and I was deeply moved.
In my animal totem book I read that the Osprey it said:
“- An osprey doesn’t wait for the fish to jump out of the water to meet him, instead he splashes in headfirst into an element that he could not survive within. He even places his head under the water - unlike sea-eagles. He teaches us how to plunder our resources and the necessity to move outside of our comfort zones in order to do this. Osprey teaches us to take risks, and to not be frightened of grasping opportunities just because they seem like they’re out of our reach.
- An appearance of osprey in your life can indicate an appearance of the spirit in the form of the Beacon, coming to guide you back to a place of safety or security, or to a feeling of groundedness.
- In terms of working on an energy or elemental level, osprey energy can be called upon when working with the elements of water and wind.
- Osprey tells us that what is right in front of us, is enough, and that we must overcome ‘grass is greener’ syndrome and constantly wonder ‘what if?’ about how much better things are on the other side of our horizons.
- We must learn to respect others and their boundaries. Osprey comes into our lives to specifically teach us that those we want to treat with disdain or contempt, should be treated with respect regardless of how we feel. We might be drawn to fierce personalities, and then clash with them, osprey energy teaches us that we are able to maintain our integrity but taking a step back and practicing respect.
- Ospreys come into our life to teach us how to hone our senses, on both a physical and spiritual level. We might have become lazy with meditation, or with a physical endeavour we used to enjoy. We might have let our brains, bodies and spirits become sluggish. Osprey claws us back into shape, so that we learn that we nourish ourselves when we’re honed.
- Sometimes opportunity sticks around for a while, but most of the time it doesn’t. Osprey teaches us precise timing, and if osprey has come into your life, you are either able to spot opportunities and seize them as soon as they’re noticed, or you are learning this trait.”
I am so deeply grateful and know that this was the first step in allowing myself to be of greater service to my G-d and to all of you.
This year I commit to speaking my truth more clearly and with greater courage.
I commit to finding the fastest easiest ways to share abundance teachings to the most number of people.
I intend to help people release old stories and for all of us to move joyfully forward into a new world.
I intend to dance more, laugh more, stay in the Light more and be a powerful force of Love on the planet.
